She started her career as a TV actor appearing in the television shows Malibu (1983), California Girls (1985). She was also a part of the comedy films The Perils of Gwendoline and Bachelor Party (both 1984) in addition to the film of horror Witchboard (1986). Kitaen was well-known for her performances in heavy metal music videos like Ratt's "Back for More", Whitesnake "Still of the Night" and "Is This love" (all 1987). Kitaen also appeared on reality television shows such as Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) and The Surreal Life (2006) which explored Kitaen's issues with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was born in San Diego, California, in 1961. Kitaen is the youngest of three children born to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor), who was a housewife and beauty contest participant once, and Terry Kitaen. Kitaen works for a company that makes neon signs. [1][2] Kitaen's mother was from Scottish and Irish descent, while her father was Russian-Jewish heritage. [33 Kitaen was raised in the Jewish faith. At the age of 12 years old, she began to use the nickname "Tawny" and developed on her own initiative. In her early years she suffered from dyslexia. This led her to drop out of Mission Bay High School. [7] At the age of 14 with tickets to the backstage after an Peter Frampton concert at Balboa Stadium, she was able to witness the privileged treatment given to Frampton's partner Penny and was determined to get it for herself. [9]
